Grace

“Gracefulness has been defined to be the outward expression of the inward harmony of the soul.”     William Hazlitt

IMG_5555 swanpond webThe word “grace” came up recently and I’ve been dwelling on it’s meaning, apart from it’s biblical meaning. I came across the above quote and it resonated with me. Someone else wrote: “Grace is undeserved favor.
Grace is loving someone who’s so unlovable; being courteous to someone who’s rude; being merciful to someone who’s merciless; forgiving someone even before he or she repents; being willing to reach out to someone who doesn’t want to have anything to do with you, even rejects you.”

Wow – if only we could aspire to living  lives full of grace – peace and beauty would abound!

  1. I love all that the word “grace” encompasses. Looking at the image of the gliding swan, I’m reminded of its humble beginnings. Perhaps grace is experienced more truly when come to through awkwardness and challenge. That “inward harmony of the soul” a living process, unfolding. Thanks for something to reflect upon this morning.
